Ama Capital announces expansion of its team following appointment of nine sector specialists, including ex-Olympian Adrian Moorhouse.
Just one month after announcing the addition of three high profile Non-Executive Partners, investment firm Ama Capital has expanded appointing nine operating partners to its team.
Unlike traditional arm’s length operating partner positions, the nine sector experts have all invested in Ama Capital and are fully part of the internal team.
Combined, the new appointments have added an additional 300 years of real-world operational experience to Ama Capital’s in house capabilities.
Amongst the appointees is Adrian Moorhouse, an Olympic Gold medal winner. After his career as a professional athlete, Adrian became Head of Talent Development for GB Swimming before co-founding Lane4, a performance development consultancy. He sold this to EY in 2021, with whom he remained until 2024.
Joining Moorhouse are Peter Barrett, Simon Burke, Carl Fisher, Clare Gill, Mark Goodyear, James Hill, Simon Mason and Grant Skinner.
Between them, they have successfully founded and/or led multiple institutionally backed and listed businesses. Operating within the Ama Capital team, these experts will provide SMEs with their knowledge and real-world business experience to support their growth.
The appointees have occupied senior roles at well-established organisations including Accenture, Virgin Entertainment, Mubadala, Dowty, the Co-op Group, Elixirr, Genworth Financial and the BBC.
They join Founding Partners Miles Otway and Ed Ransome, alongside three recently appointed Non-Executive Partners; Andrew Tyler, Alistair Hardie and Tony Buffin.
Founding Partner, Miles Otway, explains: “We have long understood that value to SMEs extends far beyond capital investment. To help companies realise their long-term objectives, it’s essential that they receive advice from institutionally backed industry leaders who have years of experience in making businesses thrive.
“Our innovative approach to involving operating partners – by inviting them to invest in the firm and acquire a financial stake in Ama – enables us to provide SMEs with invaluable, real-world expertise across a diverse range of disciplines beyond traditional private equity skillsets. While many operating partners remain distant from the day-to-day operations of a business, our nine specialists are fully immersed and actively engaged, offering hands-on support to the companies we invest in.
“It has always been our aim to approach SME investing in a different way and with the experience and knowledge they bring to the firm; we are well on track to achieving that goal.”
The new operating partners bring vast knowledge and insights into creating and implementing strategies, through to boosting commercial activity, harnessing talent development and delivering operational efficiencies.
As an investment firm, Ama Capital focuses on providing flexible capital to profitable businesses in financial and professional services, business services and specialist engineering & industrials. It will invest up to 25 million into a range of opportunities, including management buy outs, growth, retirement sales and carve outs.
