story.

Ama Capital is a UK lower mid-market investment firm with a unique operator led model.

Our name is derived from the inspirational Ama free divers of Japan, renowned for their courage, skill and determination overcoming the harsh and unpredictable nature of the ocean to discover prized pearls on the seabed. True to the name that we carry, we seek out and partner with the best companies that meet our investment criteria within the vast seascape of small and medium enterprises in the UK.

We provide up to £20m of investment to support UK SMEs in Financial & Professional Services, Niche Engineering & Industrials and Business Services.

We combine the vision and capability of your company and team with the real world and industry-leading strategic, commercial and operational expertise of our in-house operating partners. Miles and Ed have more than 30 years combined experience in the UK SME market, having completed over 25 investments, deployed over £200m of capital and delivered attractive returns to investors.

Miles has spent his whole career in the UK SME market, latterly over 11 years as Partner and Head of New Business at lower mid-market investment firm Connection Capital, following roles with Bowmark Capital and NBGI Private Equity. He is passionate about supporting entrepreneurs and management teams to grow their businesses and co-founded Ama Capital with Ed to try and bring a better, more supportive business model to UK SME investing.

Ed began his investment career at leading transformation investor, Endless. Over his eight years in Leeds, Manchester and London, he generated significant value across multiple sectors, sizes of business and situations. He transferred this skillset to Chiltern Capital, where he spent his time as a Partner and member of the Investment and Portfolio Committee for the last five years.
